Celebrating 94 Years! 

Held in beautiful, historic downtown Thomasville, the Rose Festival has been a Southwest Georgia tradition since the 1920’s.  Enjoy roses, roses, and more roses, plus two parades, live music and street dance (this year featuring the Atlanta Rhythm Section), arts & crafts, fantastic food and so much more.  Plus, most events are free!  The schedule below will help you plan but don't forget to check our calendar closer to the event date for additional events during this festive week.

Thursday, April 23

37th Annual Children’s Rose Bud Parade

7 pm, Broad Street, Downtown Thomasville, possibly the cutest parade featuring hundreds of area children!

Power of the Past Museum

9 am – 6 pm, 882 Airport Road (Off GA Hwy 122/Pavo Road)

Located at the Thomasville Regional Airport, the museum is home to the extraordinary personal collection of some of the oldest and rarest aircraft engines and aviation memorabilia of the James Dekle Family of Thomasville.  For more information call 229-226-3010 or visit www.powerofthepast.org.

Step into the Past at the Thomas County Museum of History

Tours available Thursday April 23, Friday April 24, & Saturday April 25 at 10am, 2 pm, and 3:30 pm, Thomas County Museum of History- Learn about Thomasville’s Victorian past, Rose Show traditions and tour six historic buildings.  For information visit www.thomascountyhistory.org or call (229) 226-7664 to schedule group visits.  Group rates available.

African American Rose Queen Educational Exhibit

10:00am-5:00pm, Jack Hadley Black History Museum- The Jack Hadley Black History Museum invites you to attend a special photograph exhibit for the 94th Annual Rose Show & Festival: a display of Thomasville’s first African American Rose Queens.  In addition, the exhibit will also include South GA- North FL Miss Black Soul Pageant winners, photos of original floats that the Queens rode in parades (created by local legend Joseph “Joe Soul” Thomas), and more.  Info: 229-226-5029

Friday, April 24

9th Annual Orchids on Parade 

9 a.m. – 4 p.m., inside the Genealogical Library at 135 North Broad Street- Showcasing orchids grown by members of the Thomasville Orchid Society in a natural habitat (members will be on hand to answer questions), free admission. 

94th Annual Rose Show

1:00 pm – 5:00 pm, Broad Street at Remington Avenue, Downtown Thomasville- Ribbon cutting ceremony with the Thomasville Rose Queen, Miss Hannah Geer, and local dignitaries.

Standard Flower Show 

2:00-5:00 pm, Thomasville Garden Center, 1102 Old Monticello Road, admission free- Ribbon cutting ceremony with Thomasville Rose Queen and local dignitaries.  Seated picnic luncheon/fashion show begins at 1:00 pm (tickets required for Fashion Show).

Inspection and Annual Review of Thomasville Police Department

2:30pm, Thomasville Rose Garden/Cherokee Lake Park, Covington Avenue.  An impressive review of the Thomasville Police Department, free admission.The public is invited to witness the Annual Thomasville Police Department Review.  This Police Command Inspection will also include a community meet-and-greet with the officers.   

67th Annual Rose Parade

7 pm, Broad Street, Downtown Thomasville- Everyone loves a parade and this one is no exception!  Watch as Thomasville rolls out its “rose” carpet with colorful floats, marching bands, and much more!

17th annual Street Dance

8:30 pm, immediately following the parade, intersection of North Broad and Jefferson Streets featuring The Atlanta Rhythm Section!  Get down and boogie with free admission - it’s fun for the entire family!

Street painting, night painting, plantation painting- and new this year!- Quick Draw!  Prizes, parties, and just plain fun.  Non-juried, open invitation- but limited space!  You may pre-register by email to rebecca@artfromtheheart.com or call 229-319-9398.  The paint out will be accompanied by an art exhibit and sale at Wiregrass Gallery in Downtown Thomasville.  Further details and prosepctus will be sent to you and your reserved space will be confirmed when forms and fee are received.

38th annual Rose City 10K Run

8 am, in front of the Post Office on Broad Street.  Registration information can be obtained by calling (229) 226-9878.

13th annual City of Roses Car & Truck Show

Registration at 9 am, Show 10 a.m. until 3 pm around the Courthouse on North Broad Street- View unique and award winning motorcycles, cars and trucks.

36th annual 1 Mile Run (ages 12 & under)

9:30 am, in front of the Post Office on Broad Street.  Registration information can be obtained by calling (229) 226-9878.

74th annual Civic Garden Club Flower Show

10 am – 4 pm, Ribbon Cutting at 10 a.m. under the big top in Paradise Park.  Enjoy beautiful roses, wild flowers, horticulture settings, potted plants, hanging baskets, table settings and more!

94th annual Rose Show

9 am - 4pm, Continues under the big top on Broad Street at Remington Avenue- Hundreds of hybrid rose varieties and breathtaking specimens will be on exhibit from growers throughout the southeast.

Art in the Park

10 am  - 4 p.m., Paradise Park- Featuring fine arts, crafts, great food and children’s activities throughout the day.  Free admission.

4th Annual Due South

12 Noon until 11 pm, Building 209, Remington Avenue- A celebration of the authentic southern connection between land, family, and tradition.  Due South pairs bountiful local foods, chefs, makers and music for a lively event in Downtown Thomasville.  General admission and VIP tickets available. 2015 Rose City Golf Classic (Saturday AND Sunday)

Held at the Country Oaks Golf Course from 8:30am-4:00pm on Saturday. 4/25 AND Sunday, 4/26.  2 person team tournament with morning and afternoon tee times on both days.  Teams can choose their Saturday tee times, and Sunday tee times will be determined by their flight.  *Regular play will be limited on both days.* Contact Mike Owens for more information: 229-225-4333, mikeo@thomasville.org 

23rd Annual Bark in the Park

Come see the Thomasville-Thomas County Humane Society in Paradise Park!  This is lots of fun for dog lovers- bring your pooch and enjoy the fun!  Registration begins at 10:00am and the event runs until the early afternoon.  All dogs must be on a leash with appropriate tools to clean up any accidents.
