Thomasville Landmarks and the Thomas County Historical Society are proud to present a dynamic lecture and walking tour weaving together the stories and places that illustrate the colorful history of Thomasville's Jewish community. The program begins at the B'nai Israel Synagogue, one of Thomasville's architectural treasures listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Following a brief lecture, participants will embark on a walking tour through downtown exploring the sites and hidden histories of Thomasville's once thriving Jewish merchant class. Participants will also get a first look at a new booklet highlighting local Jewish history and cultural resources developed for free distribution to educators and heritage tourists. This program is free and open to the public. For more information or to make a reservations, please contact Thomasville Landmarks at 229-226-6016.
