The Gulf Coastal Plain was named in 2016 as one of the World's top Biodiversity Hotspots. Two criteria must be met for this designation -- 1) more than 1,500 endemic vascular plants, and 2) greater than 70% habitat loss. Despite being home to 29 state-listed and 21 federally-listed endangered species, most people are unaware of the importance of the Red Hills Region in sustaining the area's biodiversity. Kim Sash, Conservation Biologist at Tall Timbers Research Station and Land Conservancy, will be leading an interactive presentation where participants will learn about life in the Red Hills Region. Join her as she shares her knowledge and get up close and personal with some real live animals.
