“Way Down in the South where the gulf breezes blow,
Where tall, stately pines and the live oaks grow,
Where soft summer nights are cooled by the dew,
And a summer sun shines the winter months through,
There nestles a gem – a fair forest queen –
Whose beauties all love when once they are seen;
Whose balm-laden air gives health to the ill –
A joy to all, oh, sweet Thomasville!

There blossoms the rose with heaven’s perfume,
There lilies and jasmines and hyacinths bloom;
There violets beautiful, fragrant and shy
Drinketh the dew of a soft southern sky;
There wanderers come from regions of snow,
Chilled to the heart by the ice king’s glow;
To such it is life – and to all good will
That enter thy gates, oh, sweet Thomasville!
